Prof. Rajendra Tandon (1931-2014)
Prof. Rajendra Tandon, Formerly Prof. & Head – Department of Cardiology, remembered as "Father of Paediatric Cardiology" in India was a legend in cardiology. He graduated from K.G. Medical College, Lucknow. Trained in Internal Medicine and Paediatric Cardiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston from 1959 – 1963.
Trained in Cardiolvascular Pathology at St. Paul Minn. USA from 1972 to 1973. Professor and Head – Department of Cardiology at AIIMS, New Delhi from 1965 to 1995. More than 350 publications in Index Journals. After he retired from AIIMS, he was the Consultant Cardiologist at Sitaram Bhartia Institute of Science and Research Centre, New Delhi.
He was the Editor of three books.He received Life time achievement award by CSI, Sanjay B Roy oration of AIIMS. He was one of the Architects of the Cardiology update in clinics, Chennai from 2006 to 2011. His last paper published was on M –Protein in RHD in the Indian Heart Journal.
